coraline on SPS?

i have this green cap which looks like it has had coraline growing on it, and its been this way for well as long as i can remember, i've had this cap since maybe the fall ish? i dunno hard to say.

I would agree that it is coraline that covered up a dead spot...dont think u have to worry about it spreading

true...it does not make sense that there are several dead spots...but could something corrosive precipitated onto it like when doing water changes?

maybe? its hard to say i would notice something like that though.
