So who uses Corallife salt & what about it do you like & or dislike? Reason I'm asking is I'm down to my last 2 50gal mix bags of RC & my a friend of mine gave me a 20.00 store credit to PetSmart he wasn't gonna use. I noticed they had the corallife 150 gallon buckets for 38.00 The ones with the free T Shirt & i'm debating on trying it out. Also for those who use it regularly how's the TShirt look is it cheesy?

i dont know about the brand, but i never use anything but RC and sometimes Instant Ocean. I would stick to what has been doing good for you.

I used to use it and it seemed to work fine. Like Commonstranger, I never really cared for IO. It seemed to me you had to be more on top of things with it. Well, that and a bad batch I got once that nearly whiped out my tank. :)

Jason,
OCeanic all the way :D just my opinion.

Oceanic always worked for me fine for me. I used IO one time and have never went back. There is a chart that shows what in most salt mixes. Oceanic was at the top of the list for Cal and Mag. I kno petsmart do not carry Oceanic.

For SPS Coralife Is one of the best due to It's high Ca @ 1.0264 It's around 510 KH 8-9 and Mag 1380. I have been using It for 30 yrs and wouldn't stop now.
The T shirt Is just white with thier logo on It!

I love Coralife salt. In fact, I'm probably going to go back to it after using IO for a bit.

I used to be able to get PetSmart to match online prices of Coralife buckets ($35), but they wouldn't do it last time I tried. I think that manager may be a little bit grumpy, though. I need to try again soon. :D

The last time I was there I tried the price match deal. The cashier was doing it but had to have the manager come over to change the price & the manager refused. He said they only match local competitors now & no longer match online prices.

As far as IO goes I'm not super pleased with it. The last box I got mustve been a bad batch, after that I went with a box of RC while everything in the tank has responded well to it. It doesn't seem to goes as far as IO went the amount of water made versus amount of salt used.

So really I guess it boils down to i'm looking for a new salt to possibly try. I wanna try the Brightwells but since I had the store credit & the corallife was on sale I thought I might give it a try.

As you can see, lots of differences in what we all use. :)

I have been using Oceanic and like it. Has one of the highest ratings in Calcium and Mag although it is a little low in KH. Now that I am two part dosing, not really an issue. If I did switch I would probably go for RC as I have heard good things. I think that is what Randy uses and if it is good enough for him then...

I switched to Coralife. The last batch of Oceanic I got had a very high dkh reading - I stopped at 17 drops and the test was still blue. I just picked up a 150 gallon bucket at Petsmart for $38. The shirt I got in the bucket had their logo and pictures of about 10 different blennies on the back.

Coralife salt is pretty dam good for the price. I'm trying Seachem reef salt right now.

I want to try their Salinity salt too when i get a chance.

Went to the Georgia Aquarium the other day. They use Instant Ocean salt in all their tanks, for 6.5 million gallons lol

So how about I just went & got a bucket since I got ro water brewin as I type. Opened it up & it don't have the shirt in it. I've been snookered. It was factory sealed bucket with 3 resealable bags inside but no shirt.

No the bucket says 3 reseable 50 gal bags & a free t shirt. It's no big deal k just hope the salt is good. It's just my luck though I get the bucket with the missing shirt. My luck is the type we could do a group buy for 100 diff fish. If I ordered 3 mine would be the 3 that arrived dead. That's just how I roll I guess. I remember when I was a little kid my parents bought me & brother rabbits for Easter. As luck would have it his was all hoping around Easter morning & mine was dead in the basket.
Happy Easter grab a shovel.

lol

Typically my stuff is pooched out of the box as well. I did however get the shirt inside the bucket. It's pretty bad, I will probably never wear it except on laundry day.

Yup, The shirt should have been In the bucket, But the Salt Is great IMO.
Mike, I think Randy actually uses IO but boosts all the level up B4 use, Just too much Extra work and expense IMO.
Brandon, They matched the sale price On bags because they were out of buckets, But no T-shirt...
Bill

Yeah, to me Instant Ocean took a lot more effort to get all the levels where I wanted them. I guess for the more chemistry inclined it works well but I am lazy I guess.
