Coralline Algae

my rocks are purple
trying to grow the layered type coralline algae
must i get this layered type to seed
or higher calcium level will do the job?

That looks like some sort of Monti. Are you sure it's just coralline? Looks cool enough though.

Whether or not the coralline is plating or not, they both need equal levels of calcium. Different, but the same. I'm guessing 450 would be the sweet spot constantly? That's very cool. I've never had my coralline plate like that before.

I have a rock that has coralline just like that, with the plating effect. It has not shown up on any other rocks though, just the one piece. I do not dose anything, just weekly water changes with Reef Crystals and it has grown pretty good since I bought it.

Awesome picture. Haven't seen coralline do that. I was wondering if it was coral at first too. But it does look pretty thin. Well keep us posted on what you do and how it grows!
