coralline algae

I took my powerheads out of the tank a couple days ago and cleaned them up in the sink. Just like i always do. The coralline algae is starting to turn white. What could be wrong? I havent the slightest idea.

its dead! tap water kills coralline alga.
try cleaning in a bucket of SW with pretty close temp. as tank next time, it should be fine!

I have done it plenty of other times. Apparently this time it killed it. That sucks. I will definatly clean it in salt water next time. Thanks for the info.

No doubt.

I usually clean mine in Vinager so I can return them to looking like new.

+ vinegar. You gotta clean those armatures(sp?) so the gunk doesn't build up and cause a drag, otherwise your not flowing the max.
