corals shriveling?

I have a couple frags of GSP and an acan that seem to be shriveled up. All my other corals are fine, and my parameters seem to be in line, save for Mag. Seems to be a little low.
Cal. 400
Alk. 8
Mag 1150
Nitrate > 10
Phos. .20
Ph 8.0-8.2

Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, if your phosphate is really .2, i would say thats high. Maybe try to further reduce nitrate and phosphate? Water changes would be my plan of attack.

I would say that your Alk is too low (not a big issue) but typically you should shoot for between 7-11 dKH and 8 is fine I try to keep above 9.

You are right that you magnesium is too low you should be trying to achieve between 1250-1350.

Nitrates are too high should be .2ppm or less

The primary concern is your phosphate .20 will make any acan shrivel a bit.

There is a lot of information and threads already started on Phosphate so I would suggest a search. Water changes are helpful but don't get to the root cause - overfeeding, phosphate leaching from manmade rocks, not rinsing frozen food, inadequate filtration (LR, Macroalgae).

If you are sure that your test kit is accurate then I would start the reading search. GFO is helpful and the best way to use it is in a media reactor.

Hope this helps - not the full answer I am sure you are looking for but there are lots of plans already documented on the forum to help you resolve the issue. Good luck!
