Corkscrew nem??

Not sure if this is a corkscrew nem or not? If not what is it?

It came on a rock I bought... The kid who got out my rock was going to kill it trying to scrap it off so I told him to leave it.

Anything I should know about this beast? :) Not the most colorful thing out there but it's pretty in its own way.

Thanks!!!

Thanks Bradleym... I wasn't disappointed it didn't want to come off the rock BUT then paranoia struck and I was like omg please don't be something really really horrible (my lfs just got into saltwater a little bit, they really know nothing so I don't trust they wouldn't buy bad stuff lol). I'm not a nem expert by any means... I have a green bubble tip and a mini/maxi but that's about all I know! Haha

The long tentacles are fabulous!

It looks like your rock came in with a fair share of aiptasia too (the other ones in the pictures). Make sure you get rid of those before they get out of hand. There are lots of different methods to eradicate them, but it's definitely important to get an early start! :)

Yes, the brownish red tentacles in the top left of your pic that is aipstasia. Very invasive, peppermint shrimp of the right locale will eat them, but have been known to pick at other nems as well. There are plenty of chemical options as well, but I would advise against that as they can cause more problems than they claim to fix. There are nudibranches, and fish that also eat aipstasia along with homemade remedies you can find on the web. If you decide to try and pull them out, be careful as leaving 1 tiny little piece can cause it to reproduce itself. Awesome hitchhiker with the corkscrew though almost bought one last week but opted out.

The aiptasia isn't new, and it didn't come on the rock I bought, it came on a rock a friend of mine gave me back in the day when I was uneducated about it. I've been battling that for years it seems like. Just can't ever seem to get rid of it all. Got some aiptasia x today along with my AI Sol Blue Nano :p I haven't tried it before so we shall see.

Appreciate the advice, although I have a peppermint shrimp that apparently doesn't eat the stuff and I also have the berghia nudibranch that does it eat, I've seen one do it BUT apparently not fast enough or I don't have enough :( I do have a pretty large one, I was kinda shocked when I saw him! Saltwater weeds, ugh....
