pump auto shut off valve

pump auto shut off valve

Is there a valve-type-thing that you can attach to the pump that will shut it off if it begins to run dry?

i was going to do a 4-5 inch dsb, some lr rubble and chaeto (from what I read).

Where does one get Chaeto? I read about it a lot, but have never seen it sold...

Check your local reef club,or the selling forum's here someone will sell you some cheep.

As for Chaeto...

Jurrassic Aquatics has a bunch of it, and is near by you. Or, if you want some, I have a ton, and since I no longer have room for it in my sump, I have no place to put it presently (it's currently overgrowing my QT tank).

started getting my stuff yesterday. Got the lights and the chiller.

THE CHILLER IS HUGE!!!

Does the chiller usually go next to the stand? I can't see how it would go inside of it.

At least now I have some stuff to look at, ;)

Large chillers go anywhere it can fit. Most people don't end up having a good place for them unless they seriously plan out their stand space/fish room beforehand. You may not need to run your chiller at all until the summer anyway: if your room temp is low enough, the fans alone may be able to keep up with the heat from your lights. It's a good thing to play around with and see prior to stocking the tank with anything living.

ggk - a few generous local reefers have already contacted me with free chaeto offers.

dtip - The reason why I got the chiller is that the tank is on the second floor in my house. It's hot in the winter and in the summer. I didn't want to boil my tank by mistake. Hopefully, the heat from the lights will warm up the room in the winter, and I can just close the heating vent....;)

Worse case, I just bought a big heavy black metal box :(

What do you recommend as a lighting cycle?

We need to see pics of these goodies.:D

Hopefully you wont have to use the chiller too much in the summer, i'll peak at around 85 during the hot months, but then again im cheap and rarely use my air conditioning :)

I don't have MHs, so I can't really give a good recommendation on how long they should be on. But as for any lights being on, it doesn't matter that much with no livestock other than to have a steady night/day cycle. With livestock it sort of depends on what you are keeping, at what height, etc.

Temp is definately something you can play around with in the room: close the vents just enough, test out the heater, etc.

Some of the base rock. The "white" ones are all shelves; although it's tough to tell in 2D.
