as for the Reefkeeper 2. I may hold off for a little while, since the ole funds are running low. I should be able to just add it later right?

I went to the DA website and read about it...and i sort of get what it does. Seems pretty complicated, but hopefully by the time I'm ready for it, I will know more. Would I be able to control my Tunze 6045 with it? Instead of buying the Tunze multicontroler?

I will keep my eye open for a used one as well; seems like an "ok" way to save some money.

You cal add a Reefkeeper whenever you want.There is a used one for sale in the selling forum here,with all the probes too.I think he wants $250 shipped.Just something to think about,since you have already spent a ton of cash on top quality equiptment.

Also, do you know the answer regarding controlling the nanostream 6045's?

I am not certain on weather you can use the reefkeeper 2 to control the 6045's,but i think you can set them to pulse.Maybe someone will chime in who has a difinitive answer.Here is the link.

I read the updates on the rk2, but I can only tell you what I think I remember.
The RK2 can run the Tunze. It can even be incremented down to one second whereas the multicontroller increments are 15 seconds. There is a $200 attachment that you will need. I think it even has more functions that I cant remember.
I had this conversation with a buddy of mine going thru the same thing you are. I told him to add up cost for all of his powerstrips, timers and controllers that he will want for his tank and minus it from the RK cost. I think he ended up with about $100 difference. This also included adding another wall outlet because of so many plugs.
I have 8 wall outlets and 4 powerstrips running from them on a 125g. Where there isn't a powerstrip, there's a plug or timer.
If you go forward with your tank, you will need all of this stuff, you wont have near the functionality and it will be like buying it all twice if you wait till later.
 
Ok cdbias2, that makes sense. I guess when you say it that way, it would be a waste of money to double buy. My only regret is that the install guy is coming on Tuesday, and I wouldn't be able to have the RK2 in by then. I will see if I can have him come later.

I suppose I can have the PH's connected without the extra attachment, and then just add that portion later.

I need to go get more business, to finance this stuff ;)
 
That RK attachment is also a type of a power converter to get the 110w RK down to 8w Tunze powerheads. You have to have it to run the Tunze.
Again, I am only trying to remember. Please confirm somewhere.
 
well darn, I did not get the email from the person selling the RK2, so someone else bought it :(

The Reefkeeper 2 is an excellent tool and as simple as can be. Get it when you can, all you have to do is plug your stuff in and push a few buttons. I did it all in a few minutes and without the instructions.

There will probably be a ton of them for sale as soon as the newer more expensive Elite model comes out in the near future.

dsn, do you know when the RK Elite is coming out? I could not find a date on their site. It just said "coming soon".

The order I got from MarineDepot.com was missing my iwaki pump. They said they would overnight it so I should have it by Monday.

Also, the refugium and Protein skimmer did not arrive today....cutting it close. Hopefully they will be in by Monday as well.
 
One of my online orders was incomplete. I got something I didn't order, and didn't get something I ordered. I contacted them, and they said I would have the correct item by today....we'll see. I did get the refugium in, and will post a picture in a little while.

Wow this tank looks almost like mine, hehe..

Same tank, sump, skimmer.. What return pump are you using. There are two iwaki 40's with american moters. I think one is 750gph and the other is 1200

IK1243 Iwaki WMD40RLT Water Pump - (American Motor) 750
IK1245 Iwaki WMD40RLXT Water Pump - (American Motor) 1200

I have a Quiet One 4000 but it sticks all the time. I have been looking for a better pump.

The elite has no release date and since the last one got delayed and then had a ton of issues, I don't know when this one will be out. Even new for less than $300 isn't bad.

Not trying to rain on your parade,but how come you didnt get the Japanese motor IWAKI? They run longer,stronger,& quieter.(Still im happy you got some new goodies today.

Can we see an outta box sump??O & one more thing are you gonna "mod" your G-2?
