Costa Rica wildlife and BIG Mangroves!!

So I didn't know which forum this would go under so I'm just gonna post it here. Went on a trip to Costa Rica with my family this summer and it was awesome! It was the rainy season so water was cloudy and snorkeling wasn't all that great but still fun. We went on mangrove kayak tour which was amazing and there were four types of mangroves: red, black, white, and pineapple. It was interesting to see the different types and how massive they were. They lived in mixwater not 100% saltwater. And the different types lived in different percentages of mix water. The black mangrove were cool because they were like big trees and within a 15 foot surrounding were black tips of roots coming out. The pineapple mangroves grew like pineapple and almost like a bulb. The red mangroves had roots that spread out super far and were super awesome too. On the roots of them were red crabs and capuchin monkeys would come down and eat the crabs. Seeing the monkeys jump and fall across the leaves was amazing. The trip overall was amazing and I highly recommend it for anyone. Oh also we were in Manuel antonio. Which is on the pacific side.

Those are some great pictures! That iguana is beautiful! We have a 4.5' red iguana that lives on one of our couches and is litter box trained. That viper is pretty neat too along with the rest of the critters and animals! Thanks for sharing! Did you get a chance to scuba dive or snorkel?

I had some pretty good snorkeling on the N.W. coast. Guanacaste. Cool fish and some huge lawnmower blennies. Probably 6-8 inches and fat.

Awesome! Iguanas are so cool. Yes we did so e snorkeling but it was the rainy season so the rivers were dumping into the ocean and it was cloudy. Could only see about 4 feet in front of you. But if you dove down like 2 feet you could see really cool fish where we were. Also there was a HUGE coral im thinking a brain coral that was about 8 foot down. It must've been at least 5 feet across. Also the snorkeling guide dove to the bottom and got a sea cucumber and some starfish and a Black Sea urchin. The urchin was very cool. Sarto see the coral below the surface though because all the sediment looked to be killing the coral. Also saw a dead shark once we got on the boat floating upside down. And my sister claims she saw a dead sloth. I guess one of the leaders on the tour said it was. Even though sloths can indeed swim.
