Very nice shots... beautiful birds, what lens did you use for these? The colors are great. I really like the couple of shots with the bird feeder, K20D7952 looks like he is looking at the camera.

These are very nice.. i'm curious, how many shots (approx) did you take? I would assume you had several dozen and filtered through them to select these as your favorite. I'm always trying to get a sense of how many shots a person takes vs how many "keepers" they get as a result.

I would think photographing this subject, you'd have to take many shots....

The focus seems great, i linked to flicker but didn't have an account/couldn't see larger images... You've got a nice crisp focus on the eyes in all of these... at this resolution anyhow...

thanks all!

I think that I took around 25-30 ish photos. you kind of had to anticipate some of their moves.

Amazing colors. Love the soft background. Jeeze, a 105mm? Were you in a blind or what?

lol thanks all. The birds are very comfortable around the station with people (good or bad thing?) but I was standing just a few feet away from each subject. We did a study to see how models of predators perched near feeding stations influenced the attendance amount of each species. as expected a snake model and that of a mot mot predatory bird appeared to yield the least visits to those feeders.

can you post the Mot Mot? Never even heard of one and to the best of my knowledge have never seen one. Wouldn't mind checking it out :).

Looks like a cross between a shrike and a scrub jay. That sharp pointy beak isn't for crackin' seed!

Love hummingbirds and your shots of them. Particularly like the irridescence in #2. More please!

Good God, the colors on the birds down there are amazing! I'm envious, you got some great opportunity there and some great images. Nice job.
