Couple of questions.....my new tunze equipment

First, I want to say that this tunze stuff I have purchased seems to be fantastic, just got things set up in the new 180. Problem 1. My wavemaker came with the sensor to calm the waters at night, but my tunze controller is in the closet behind the actual tank and the sensor won't reach from there up to where we need to put it under the lights..also, how does this react to solaris?
My second questions is....does the wavemaker need to have that little grid cover on the front of the pump? How vital is that? I purchased my wavemaker used and it is working flawlessly but did not come with that cover. I don't have the covers on my other 6100's either. Should I be concerned?

The main purpose of the grids is to keep fish and snails out of the pump. If you have smal fish, shrimp or crabs or a lot of snails, it is worth geting them.

It will work with any reasonably intense light source. It is completely optional to use it. Perhaps you could move it? It could be extended but would have to be sent in and I could only about double the length.
