Couple Questions about Pumps and RO

I want to increase the flow through my sump which currently has a double hang on the back overflow feeding it and 2 mag5s for return. They just don't cut it.

First what is the maxium return rate for a dual overflow box? Secondly does anybody have a submersable pump for sale or trade that would work for me?

Last but not least I wanted to see if anybody knew of a place to get good quality RO membranes for less?

Thanks in Advance!

Jason

The Filter Guys have great quality and the best prices, IME.
Ask Jim at The Filter Guys, he is very helpful. He saved me about $80 versus Foster and Smith.

If you need more flow in the sump, use a powerhead instead of increasing the return rate. You want the water to stay in the sump as long as possible before it returns to the display. The longer it is in the sump, the more nutrients can be exported. The same goes for the display, use powerheads to increase the flow. If you do change the returns in the future, if you have the room, go with an external pump. They are more dependable IMO.

As for the membrane, Air Water Ice is the best and has the best prices IMO. They are a Florida company, and great people to deal with. Since they are in Florida, the shipping is super fast too.

I buy all my RO stuff from Air Water and Ice. They are great to work with a give ORCA members a 10% discount.

I actually do have a closed loop pump, I just want to increase the pressure from my returns. I would like for them to create at least a little surface turbulance but those mag5s are barely enough.

Is Air, Water and Ice and/or The Filter Guys online or are they local stores?

Thanks for the info!

Nevermind, I found both sites. Those are much better prices than the lfs. Does the membrane determine the GPD? I can't remember if mine is 75 or 100 gpd.

both of the mag fives won't over come the dual overflow. most are rated at 1200 gph. if you want to increase the pressure reduce the outlet down to 1/2 if you already dont have it at that. if you do what kind of return? if it's 1/2 pvc than you can go to lowes and buy threaded female 90's and then pick up some 1/2 nipples that can be anywhere from 1/2 down to 1/4 inch. the 1/2 nipples will reduce inside to 3/8. just give me a ring on my cell if you need more detail
