Cowrie snails

Hi guys,
I've kept cowries in the past in reef tanks and never noticed a problem with them grazing any of my corals, but I keep hearing that they do.
Does anyone have any specific experience with this? Or have a certain species that does worst with this?
I really like these guys especially when they bring their full mantle out and cruise around the tank.
Thanks!

They are generally harmless. The larger ones are more likely to starve and become a problem.

Cheers,

Don

It's a Sieve Cowry, Cypraea cribraria. They're usually found in association with orange sponge that is a perfect match for the mantle. You'd think they'd be glaringly obvious on the reef, but they can be pretty well camouflaged!
