OK ready for some lousy photography?
Here is a guy I collected here in NY, they are very common here.
We call them rock crabs. He is saying "let me at one of those Sissy pink polka dot porceleon, not quite crabs"
I also collected my avitar in the Long Island Sound at night which is where I took

Paul it's really interesting to be able to collect your own crabs.

I guess it's better than taking them out of your underware.
Crabs we got by the barrel. I can fill a five gallon bucket with crabs in a few minutes

My contribution. I am really itching for a macro lens...

My pics were not taken with a macro lens. There are many other alternatives which might give you very good images at the cost of much more work. Reversing rings, extension tubes, Teleconverters used alone or combined....
Also close up lenses sometimes give good results.
Still you are right a decent macro lens is the way to go in the end.

RIP Green Giant

Did he really eat nori? what type of crab is this? Can you share your lighitng setup for this shot.

Xandernfs

Nice shot.
Are those red hermits really less likely to hit on snails? mine did not attack snailsa s much as the blue ones however they were very aggressive in digging hiding hles under the rocks which seemed risky for hte rock structure and caused me to remove them.

Very nice coloration on your crab. Can you tell which lense was used for the 1st pcture?

Sorry, I haven't been back here in a while. All of the exif data is included with the picture. The lens is a Sigma 150 macro and I probably had a Canon 500D closeup filter on it.
