crab?

i had bought some cured live rock and i noticed that I have some sort of crab that had hitchhiked ... it has red eyes darker in color somewhere between brown and darker. is this a good crab or not? let me know what else i should look for with this crab

Did you find that crab on the rock you got from me? I never saw anything like that in my tank. How big is it? Does it look furry?

Pic? Could be any type. Does it have a shell? Emeralds can be red in color... Gorilla crab or mantis shrimp?

Post a pic and we can identify it...

everytime i turn on the flashlight and shine it on him he takes off.. i guess i will have to go into the tank and get him in the open.. hopefully i can get to this later this evening

I had a species of coral crab that sounds a lot like what your describing. I ended up pulling him out and giving him to the LFS to figure out exactly what he was. They said he was harmless, bit he freaked me out enough to not want him back in my tank. Good luck IDing him.

Ive got a pair of crabs that look like tan mythrax crabs with red eyes. Huge to lol ask t swifty. Any way they have hairy legs, but turned out to be a harmless mythrax morph. I put him in my fuge to be safe, but all they are ever doing is scraping rocks. they dont' bother any of the fish or corals down there.
