Was finishing the plumbing on this tank and flexed the back panel. The crack is above the water line, I dont know whether to use it or start over. The crack didnt go through to the back side of the glass but I siliconed it anyway. What do you think?
I suppose to answer this question you should ask yourself if you are ok with having the entire contents of your tank dump onto your floor. Cracks in glass spread slowly over time. If you've ever had a crack in your windshield you'll know what I'm talking about. Personally I have completely given up on glass tanks for this very reason. It's a calculated risk.
How will the crack get larger if it ends at both ends already?
The crack goes from the top of the tank behind the trim, and ends in the hole that the bulkhead is in.
I think it will not be an issue.
one would fit inside the overflow and go to the top trim the other would go on the back and go to the top trim
I would drill holes in each acrylic plate for the bulkhead
clean the silicone off the glass with a razor
apply a thin layer of silicone to each plate
press them gently against the glass on each side while aligning the hole for the bulkhead
install new bulkhead
use a section of flexible PVC between the bulkhead and the drain ( and maybe more in other parts of the drain but without seeing it I couldn't say) so that if it's bumped again it has some give
