crack in plastic frame bottom 150 g glass

Ohio BigDog

WHAT PORCH ?
hello about to set up new to me tank the bottom frame is cracked all way through. i bought a new one but after looking not sure need to replace wanting to see if i can just use something to weld plastic back together or not ? looks like alot to take old frame off. any advice would be greatly appreciated

if you already have the frame you might as well switch it out. That being said I've had several tanks with cracked uppers and lowers with never a problem.

:) my fear is leaks if i take off i have tank upside down and theres sealer on glass bottom where frame edge ends . looks like when built they put sealer on bottom part of frame where glass sits and setting tank in frame ooozed out around complete edge all three openings on bottom . wish i could post a pic :(

you can repair them big dog ,,but if you want to sleep at night ,,replace it !!! i sure would hate to set that up and 2 months later see a slow drip , or a fast 150 gal drip

I say fix it right too, I am sure ten guys will line up saying they never did and have no problems. I sure would hate to be guy 11 with 100+ gal of water on the floor and all my reef goodies high and dry when it all could have been avoided.

Its just too easy to fix now to pass over it

I have a 150 to. I'd fix it. Don't need to be awoken by a tsunami. Better safe than wet. Thats what I always say. Just make your cuts clean. It will not affect the glass as long as you don't scratch it.(too bad) Then when you seal it up do the same thing they did. Who cares if you get a little blob. You can trim that once it sets. Good luck!!
