cracked shell

I'm curious if anyone has ever purchased a clam with a cracked shell. I purchased a crocea y-day with great coloring with a large crack in the shell. I ended up getting a great deal on it so I will give it a try. It has opened up and it looked good in the store. Will this heal itself in time or do you think it's doomed?

The shells are constantly growing right??? I am just guessing here...but I would assume that if it is open and looking all right at the moment, that as long as you can keep parasites/predators away from it, it would heal over time. But again...I am just guessing.

It's good sized. If I didn't know better it looks as if someone took a hammer to it. I'm guessing it was damaged in shipping or just packed that way. I'd say 1/8" space between the crack. Any hope?

SUper glue the bugger shut, maybe cover it with some macro algea too, I doubt bristle worms give you big problems but it will probably heal faster if the crack is kept small.

I'd artificially "heal" the gap too if I were you because exposed flesh like that can easily become a feast for bristle worms and other pests that can exist.
