It's like turning into a really exciting experience setting up your tank into an absolute nightmare.
Bad customer service and poorly made tanks.
thats exactly how i feel. couldn't have put it better. For companies like GC its just a tank, some glass stuck together, but for us, the reef keeper, it's so much more. Its many, many hours of hard work spent to raise the money for such a purchase, it's hours of dreams, research and ideas. It's not just a hobby for us, it's a passion. Thats why it's so tough to have been so excited, almost done with setting it up and then have this happen, and to have no sympathy from the company.
but two things:
1: i did actually file a claim with the credit card company, just as he phoned on another line telling me he had refunded the money (it has yet to show up on my account) so the women in the call center took all the information, tank size, what happened, date, and then made a note of it on my account. so i feel thats enough right there to get things started without any worries if the money doesn't show.
2: i just ordered my new 120 through my trusted LFS, Tideline Aquatics in N. Charleston, SC
http://www.tidelineaquatics.net/ . I know everyone thinks their store is the best around, but these guys really are phenomenal, most amazing customer service i have ever known. And how did they win me over? well, when i first started this hobby i purchased two baby clowns from a competitor of theirs, one just refused to eat and perished, this store also sold me a chocolate chip star fish with an anemone which obviously ended disastrously. So i went to Tideline to try them out, told them my troubles and THEY replaced my baby clown for free. Just amazing.
i think its a AGA 120, 48 x 25 x 24. I will be going there tomorrow to check it out and if i'm happy i'll pay for the tank
