cracked tank, help!

You said you paid 300$ for the tank, that is awfully cheap

I had similar experience with clarity plus which is the other garbage company out thare

I just ordered new Tank from AGE the customer service is excellent but I didn't get my tank yet.

GlassCages has shown a pattern of just not caring. They found the loophole: undercut everyone else's prices and throw customer service and good will out the window.

They're the Sam Walton of aquarium manufacturing.
Out of fairness Walton didn't take his company this way, the bean counters that took over after he left did.
btw any updates?

To whoever is complaining about Sam Walton. I would tell you this;

If they sold aquariums in Sams Club, I can assure they will be 100 times better than all the ....... (better not to use profanity) in Clarity Plus, Aquariums for you, and Glass Cages. at least they stand behind their products.

well the $300 was credited back to my account. He was true to his word.

But I have not heard a word back after my polite email to him asking for the extra money that was put into the tank if he is requesting I drive to GA to give it back to him.

I am picking up my AGA 120 on Saturday. It cost me twice as much as the GC but I'm backed with a much better warranty and hopefully customers service. And just looking at the tank, it looks a great deal better made. I'm very excited.

I'm glad the issues with GC is almost behind me. Thanks everyone for their opinions, support and suggestions.

The GC tank will be kept in my possession until I receive the extra money from them, if I never hear back, then I will just sell it as a reptile tank.

Just so everyone knows, GC did the right thing in the end. It was
an unpleasent process and has made the whole experience of setting up a new system rather sour. I personally wouldnt go with them again.

They cannot be matched on price. But in this life you get what you pay for. Buy cheap, you get cheap. Some people might be willing to risk it, but from now on I will pay extra to know I'm getting quality and great service.

I learnt my lesson.

i was going to order a rimless from them thinking that i would take my chances, but after this thread i dont think i will be taking any chances. Screw gc and the arrogant owner who doesnt care who's house he floods. its always the customers fault with this guy.Im glad you got most of your cash back, anyone want to make a trip to Tenn. and get the rest.lol

If you purchased the tank with a credit card - you may have insurance that will cover you - in case your tank builder wants to give you the runaround.

Credit Cards tend to have a bias toward the card holder when disputes arise. I'd be sure to mention this to your tank builder in casse they start to give ya the run around.

Good luck

a little update for anyone who is interested.....

removed the GC tank, it's now in my garage, here is some photos of how they siliconed the bottom of my tank.......

im no expert, but when comparing the new All Glass and the GC there is no comparison on the quality of craftsmanship, AND the All Glass tank is atleast 100lbs lighter!

But onto something nicer. I set up the new tank over the last few days, im so much happier with it all, this is how its looking now:

and i picked up some of the most beautiful live rock ive ever seen, from a friend tearing their tank down. This is top quality rock, for $1 per lb!!! :D

see anything blue and hiding in here????.......
IMG_0271.jpg

So my friend had a blue tank hiding in the rock, we thought we got him out, but he must have snuck back inside. This rock was sitting in a box in the back of my car for a good 20 minute drive, then into my tank, and about 30 minutes later i notice this little guy popping in and out. We will see if he makes it.

My friend i got this rock from works for Caribsea, (all my substrate is live Caribsea) he is so confident in his product that he believes the tank will survive any cycle that will happen, if any at all. So far the tang is doing ok.

:)

if you want to follow the progress of the build and tank life, then this is the original thread from the old GC tank. Tag Along. Thank guys, glad this ordeal is all over.

Hopefully everyone shopping for a new tank reads this post. Supporting companies like this damages the hobby as real companies lose business because of people like this.

I feel sorry that you had to go through this, but hope you've got your passion for the hobby back.

I am SOOOO glad I got my tank from Concept!!!

I've bookmarked this thread for future reference. If GC isn't willing to pay for their reputation, then hobbyists should not buy from them.

 no wonder it broke. Those edges are matched up perfectly! So what do they do, assemble the whole thing and pass it over a grinder so the corners are even?

so few glass tank makers in the US these days...

total of like 4 that are good, and atleast 1 is in canada. yet you cant walk 10 feet without hitting an acrylic tank maker.

someone somewhere in the middle would make a killing...

I wonder why GC makes their tanks like that... The edges normally rest ON the bottom instead of the bottom floating between the edges

no no no. That photo is of the bottom of the tank. It's on it's side now due to a bulkhead I can't get out. Should have mentioned what side the photos are of.

Almost all tanks are made like that...other manufacturers just avoid screwing it up.

No... AGA Perfecto Oceanic Glasscages all acrylic tank mfgs. etc all make their tanks with the Sides ON the bottom... It's even the DIY way to do it

Ah...maybe you're right. I do know that tanks without a bottom trim do the opposite of tanks that have one.

I'm pretty sure that the bottom glass on my oceanic is siliconed to the inside of the walls, though.
