Crazy day for anenome and clown

This is pretty wild. I recently put a green bubble tip in my tank. Already had a few ocillaris clowns that did not appear to be interested in hosting.

I had forgotten to protect the anemone on one of the inflow parts of a UV and it was pulled half way in. I turned off the power and hoped it would be able to remove itself. It appears the clown fish were trying to help the anemone get free. It was successful and the clown is now hosting the anemone.

Anyone hear of this happening?

I also have a mini carpet anemone. The other clown looked like it was trying to host the carpet. The clown then looked like it became paralyzed and the carpet folded up around him. See attached picture.

Would a carpet anemone eat a clown fish?

Clownfish don't host anemones.

Mini carpets don't host any clownfish that I know of and are notorious for eating fish.

Please let us know if the mini carpet eats the clown fish. I find this very scary and interesting at the same time!

That's funny about "clown hosting an anemone". I was in an LFS and that's how the owner of the store said it. I had corrected him that shouldn't it be the anemone hosting the clown? He said that it's really the other way around and that's how I posted it. I would assume that you guys still knew what I was talking about. If you really didn't , then I probably would not follow any advice you gave :)

Anyway, I knew that mini carpets could eat fish but I thought that clowns had a mucus lining that enabled them to be in contact with anemones so they would not get stung. I've had the mini carpet for about 2 1/2 years and he's never messed with any other tank mates.

But the clown was definitely eaten. When I saw the clown rubbing up against the mini carpet, I figured he would find a host for himself as the other one did. I had also heard that mini carpets don't host clowns so I was curious to see what would happen. I happened to have been watching and the clown just froze up after a few minutes. I tried to free up the clown and the mini carpet would not let go and just engulfed him. I guess the mini carpet was just not enjoying getting a rub down by a clown. I would not google my wording or who knows what search results you'd get.

I have a video of the clown's helping the injured anemone and a picture of the mini carpet after he engulfed the clown. If I can figure out how to post them, I'll do it. I tried to do so on my initial post but was unable to.

I'm not sure if these links will work or not:

When my carpet was small, my clowns did not. But when the carpet is bigger (6"), my clowns host and pick all the food (even they are full) that I feed the carpet
