Crazy Efflo Polyp Extension

I just got this Efflo a few days ago and when i feed the tank, this is what happened. Has anyone else Efflo did this?

yes my efflo does that aswell...also when i do a big water change mine does it...

I posted this a couple months ago. The post got mixed feedback as many folks indicated it as being a defensive response to something that it didn't like.

Mine reacts this way when I do water changes or feed cyclopseze, but it doesn't send out those filiments everytime, so I can't say for sure why it does it.

They are mesenterial fillaments as above i am not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I am sure its a defence mechanism. Hope someone has a definite answer on this.

i think they do it when they get ****ed, because i had a acro frag fell on my blue tip efflo and he did the samething and missed that frag up pretty good

Its a feeding response.

Mine does it occasionally as well - when it does it is ALWAYS a response to when I introduce food.

They are sweeper tenticles, likely a result of chemical warefare within the tank from other corals. It is a defensive or an aggressive response.

it looks to me like mine is pooping when it does this...i have fed my tank with rods coral food a few times and the efflo does this about an hour after i feed the food....

I have a few acros that do it from time to time. A couple (but not all of) my efflos do that a fair bit.

two of my wild acro's do that when i add zeo AA's (and i dose half the recommended amount) IMO it is more of a defense

I know the ones on my efflo arent sweeper tentacles cause they blow off in the current....Ive never seen a sweeper just blow off and go down the overflow.....whatever this is,it hasnt showed any ill effects on my monster efflo....mine has doubled in size over the course of a year...now the size of a dinner plate.....whatever it is,is natural...

Thanks for all the replies. i did notice that some of mine get blowen off in the current also. so i guess if no one has had any bad results from this, i can rest easy at night.
