I saw this on liveaquaria! I've never seen such an amazing rabbitfish. How large do they get? Are they like the other foxfaces? What size tank do they need?

I got one in my tank- a great fish if you ask me. Very similiar to the foxfaces in demeaner and eating habits. Mine picks at algae with my tang and angel.

As for names, I've seen them listed as "Scribbled Rabbitfish" and a "Doliatus Rabbitfish"

There are two that look like that: doliatus and virgate.

Doliatus only get to be about 7", but the virgate get to be (I think) more like 9-11".

There also might be minor differences in appearance - but so minor most people would never notice. These two fish get mixed up a lot.

The scribbled is a voracious caulerpa eater, but may nip green colored corals before learning they're not a food source. Mine nipped two tentacles off my frogspawn.

They are spooky and seriously venomous like all rabbits, and if you are working in your tank moving rock, be advised they go rock-camo and lean against the rocks for protection in the shadows. Use long gloves over leather gloves while moving rock in a tank that contains a rabbit. Their sting can cause local tissue necrosis [blackening and death of tissue], a lot like a fiddleback spider bite.

Mine is quite docil and even lets me touch him on the sides. I think I have had him for 3 years. and he is 4-5".

They are a gentle, non-aggressive fish: their sting is when they're inadvertantly grabbed. The fish that bites down on one probably does not reproduce: an appetite for rabbit puts one right out of the gene pool.

how much does the golden/yellow spot rabbit fish are worth and are they hardy and who sales them i would like one of those

I picked up a 2 to 3" Siganus doliatus for my 120G about a month ago. Most of my blue chromis are bigger than him :) So far, he is a model citizen.

I've got one and now he thinks he's a clownfish. He's adopted a spaghetti leather as his personal property and spends all night literally "sitting" in the branches. During the day he's very active and eats anything. I'd say get one.
