Crazy Weather!!!

It took me 2 hours to get home tonight after work. The power at my house was out for 4 hours before it was fixed by NES and it took them less then 10min to fix it, a blown fuse on the pole. My tanks got cold, my house temp was dropping low and my birds were freezing. I was about to pack up all the animals and take them to my boss' or my friend's house for the night. I was one happy camper when it was fixed. Hope everyone was safe from this crazy weather!!!

we got snow in manchester, but did not lose power. I did hook up the apc battery backup before i went to bed. I hope your critters are ok after getting cold.

Took Steve and I over 2 hrs to get home from Nashville yesterday. Looked like a skating rink with cars!

Hope all your fish and birds are ok.

I left my halides on until about 1am before re-adjusting the timers so they could help with the warming process. Once the heater kicked on, it got toasty pretty quick. My dogs and cats are fine in the cold. But my parrots were all puffed up but they were all happy and singing away within 30min after power kicks in. My partner covered everyone up with blankets the moment the power went off. I would not have gotten any sleep if the power did not come back on. I would of spent all night to warm my tanks, take the rest of babies to somewhere warm. I worry about myself last. My babies comes first! I love my animals and I was happy everyone was fine but if I lose any one of them I would be crying my eyes out.

we got about 2-3" here but it drifted off a bit. very pretty all day long. no loss of power, but it is COLD! My heaters are not keeping up at night very well, so when I left the house today the tank was at 76.6 with a set point of 78. it is about 60 in the garage, so I am working on a cover for the sump that will limit evaporation and cooling effect there. I need a new 300 watt heater.

Hmmm... Got the sump covered up better last night with the styrofoam sheeting to prevent evap and it stayed perfectly at temp all night long. it was 12 outside when I started the truck. Garage was cool and the single pane window on the side door was completely frozen over.

Yall stay warm out there.
