Creating archways

I'm wanting to use 100lb (aprox) of softball size rock, that I have, to make an archway between 2 large pillars, in a 200gal. tank.

I'm thinking of attaching the rock together with 3" - 4" lengths of thick plastic coat hangers, with the hangers glued inside the rock with epoxy.

Does anyone think this wont work? If not, do you have any other suggestions, other than 1/2" PVC, which I dont want to use?

I'm planning on drilling 2" - 3" into the rock and then glue the hangers in with some kind of epoxy....or, I might drill the hole slightly smaller and jam the hanger in there, that way I can take it out if I ever need to.

I can even use 2 - 3 hanger dowels per each rock...I have hundreds of plastic hangers, that I'm not using.

*correction - these will be secretly smuggled from my mom and dads house* lol!

My only other alternative, that I can think of, is to purchase 1/2" thick acrylic rods, from a plastic supply store, but I think the hangers would hold up just as well as the acrylic.

Someone I know zip tied rocks around the frame of a milk cart (the plastic ones) it looks great. They didn't cut out the back though which I would have.

good luck
