Crocea and 14k?

i have a crocea clam in my tank that is currently under a 10k pendant. It is an open top, so there are no actinics...i was wanting to switch to a 14k when the bulb needs changing, to give more color. Is this going to be a problem for my clam? thanks....

I have a Crocea, Maximas, and Deresa under 250w Phoenix 14K with no problems. Depending on the bulb brand it may significantly lower your PAR. This could have an effect on the clam. Give more info on your set up and where your clam is placed.

I believe Coralife is supposed to be making a 10K that is supposed to bleed over into the 12K range. A nice blend of color with the higher par.

Croceas live very close to surface of water in nature so IMO you are fine with the 10,000k. You don't really need to switch it to a higher kalvin value unless you also have some other corals like softies or leathers. Although the blue look of a higher k tank makes it really cool.

thanks guys..... the bulb is a corallife 150 DE HQI pendant.....and the clam is about half way up, on a rock....i was either thinking of getting a 14k or just keeping the 10k, build a topless canopy, and put actinic pcs or t5s as well.....what do you guys think? thanks....

so, if i raise the pendant up, say another 3 inches...i will lose a little bit of intensity....so, i can either keep the 10k and get actinics (i would only be able to put 1 20" bulb in the front), or get a 14 k and forget the actinics....what do you guys think? If i have a 14k 8 inches off the water is that going to be strong enough for a 25" deep tank? (nothing really is on the bottom)

I was thinking on getting the 14k to color up my acros..... but im not sure actinics would have the smae effect as the 14k.....

I have a crocea about half way up in my 58 directly under a 14K 150W phoenix and it looks fine and has new shell growth.
