Crocea clam issues

Hey everyone. Let me just start off by saying I should stop listening to the advice I'm getting at the local fish store because they said I could keep a clam fine in my 1.5 month old tank under the stock PC lights that come with my 24g nanocube.

So anyways, I have this incredible creature in my tank, he opens up all the way, seems pretty happy but he's apparently suicidal. No matter where I put him, he pushes himself over off of any rock I put him on. Could this be because he's unhappy regarding light? Thanks all for the answers in advance.

he is trying to find correct flow/ light....
but in a 7 gal nano, a friend of mine has a crocea he has had in there for 4 years under a 32 watt pc.... not saying it is healthy for the animal, but it has been done...

i think his foot looks fine. just find a small piece of rock and let him attach to that then you can move the rock around the tank to find the best place for him. I do this with my crocea and he loves it. I know that everyone is going to tell you this already but I would try and upgrade your lights. I have a sunpod 70W MH and it is keeping 2 clams alive and healthy in a 12 gallon AP. So i hope this helps, and good luck!

Those are old byssal threads. It will release them eventually. You could try sitting it in a clamshell or place it on a piece of indented rock. Once it attaches you can move it up the rockwork.

The shell idea sounds like a good one, so I don't have to stress him in the future if he needs to be moved for whatever reason. How do I prep the shell? Should I rinse it with water then stick it in or let it sit quarantined for awhile?

dig a hole in the sand and stick him in there. be sure to leave space so that he can open freely. that what I did to mine, it has stayed at the same spot for the last 3 months.

crocea clams are rock lovers. i wouldnt put him in the sand unless it is a last resort. have him attach to a shell first and then put him the sand

This is what I did to my maxima clam. Once you get your clam attached to something, I'd move it as high up under those lights as possible. And Good Luck with him!
