My clam seems to be doing fine so far , but I'm concrend that it is retracting everytime one of my fish swim over it. I know this is normal and good ( as far as it having good reactions ) but will it get used to the fish swimming around? The tank at the LFS did not have any fish in it so I don't think it is used to having them around.

thats not 100% true, clams do get used to having fish swim over top in time. i have seen several clams hosted by fish, where the clam doesn't react at all.
when shopping for a new clam ( usually just moved and still skittish ) or when dealing with a freshly moved clam it is normal for the clam to react quickly to shadows. as they settle in and become more comfortable this reaction slows and can almost disappear completely.

So I don't look like a bad guy, I do want to say this tank also acts as my grow out tank for my 240g. Some of the occupants are destined for a new home once they get big enough to not get eaten.
