I've had a crocea in my tank w/ 6 T5 bulbs (4 being overdriven by IC ballast). two weeks ago he hopped off of the rock ledge that he had been situated on for 3 weeks. i replaced him there, and he did it again 2 days later. the ledge is about 12" under the water surface, and has one of my two sump return nozzles blowing over it. the clam had and still has normal mantle extension.
So i'm faced with finding a new location for my clam, and my question is this. Do you think the flow was too much over it, or did it try and move due to lighting? I run 2 of the 4 overdriven bulbs with the GE Sun lamps, so I think it may be possible that it was too much light, but as croceas are the most light hungry clams, it seems more likely that flow concerns caused my little paratrooper to hit the beach off of his ledge.
Can I get some opinions from the forum? Thanks!
