hello,
my 45 gallon tank is 16 inches high. i just switched from 260 watt of pc to 4x54 watt t5. right now i have a deresa clam and two squamosa clams. all three are 3-4 inches each. i would like to get another clam. can i do a crocea or maxima with the t5 lighting if the new clam is placed up high? can i place the new clam on the sand bed? or should i just stick with the derasa and squamosas?
thanks

i woudl go with a maxima, but if you are trying to keep the really colorful ones i don't knwo that they will stay that colorful under T5s. Croceas require a lot more light.

Moonpod had some sucess with keeping maximas up high under t5's the more light the better....a gold max would be easier to keep....just make sure that you proved good water quality and alk and ca numberes.....

yes you can but i can't garantee you that the color will remain with low intensity lighting.

maybe i'll just stick with derasa and squamosa clams.
all of my params are in check.
thanks for the help all.

I have two crocea in a 16" tank. Both are about halfway up on the rocks.

Lighting consisits of 5 39W T5 bulbs. I've had them for 6 months now after saving them from a bad LFS with no lights. :mad2:

They are bigger and bluer then when I 1st bought them.

The pictures on my website were taken sometime ago.
