Crocea Question

We picked up a 3 inch corocea on Sunday and the first day it opened itself up all the way. After the first day though it hasn't opened up more than a centimeter or 2 tops. It hardly extends it's mantle over the shell.

I have it directly under a 175w MH. About 7" under the water surface.

Nitrates - 0
Kh - 6.5
Calcium - 400
Salinity - 1.026

I have a derasa all the way at the bottom that does awesome and has been there for almost 2 months.

I've yet to see a fish go near it, but here's the list.

2 clowns, doctor tang, cherub angel, longfin fairy wrasse, yellow carinal, bicolor blenny.......chalk bass........think that's it.

What is your pH? I would be a little concerned about the alk being below natural seawater levels, especially at low pH times.

Also, inspect the base and look for little grains of rice.

I'll check it out. Looked good at the store and like I said it was open great for the first day. Plus, my derasa has shown no signs of problems. let me check the pH real quick.

no snails. perfectly clear/white on the bottom where his foot comes out. I just moved him to the sand by my derasa so that it has the same light/flow. (I know crocea's are more light demanding)

Ok, I checked calcium and it was at 375. A little low. So I went to the chemistry calculator and "supposedly" raised it 25 ppm. We'll see.

Now I'm going to raise dKh about 1.5 degrees.

Tomorrow I'll raise calcium another 25 ppm and dKh another 1.5 degrees hopefully.

Does this sound good? Calcium 425 and dKh of 9.5?

But this isn't overdosing for 24 hours is it? It's wanting 10 ounces of calcium and 5 ounces of alk

Randy's 2 Part Recipe 1

Calcium raised to 390 over night. and dKh went up a half degree.......what's that all about? I added about 4 ounces of 2 part solution.
