so i picked up 5" two ultra croceas for $35 a piece. however, i took them directly out of the bag at work and took a little bit of a risk on them. they do have some issues. one of the clams is bleached in the siphonal mantle, not centralized bleaching as described in Knopps book. i am wondering what everyone's experience is with clams and their recovery from bleaching events.
the second clam is showing a tiny amount of bleaching in the siphonal mantle but is not opening completely. the mantle is coming to the edge of the shell but not completely out. i was thinking about giving it a FW dip for a while to see what that can do. anything else that i should be doing for these clams?
tank is a 65 gal with a 400W halide 10k. the clams are on the sandbed on some rocks and i've shortened the photoperiod to 8 hours to acclimate them to the light. so i hope everything turns out well.
