I got my first clam last weekend. A smallish, maybe 2"-2.5" Crocea. Placed it on the sand to light acclimate for a few days then up onto the rocks. Two or three times not I have come home to find it toppled onto the sand. I am sure my blue-legs or my turbo is the cause of this but shouldn't the clam have attached after a day or so? Can I attach it with putty like I would two rocks or a coral frag?

what lighting do you have??

maybe try placing him back on the sand with a small rock underneath, he will attach when he's happy.

150 Watt MH. I thought about that and that may be the answer but I would really just like him to attach where he is if possible.

he has a will of his own and if he feels that his needs aren't being met then he will continue to move until he does. with a 150W halide, he will do better in the upper portion of the tank but for now try using the small flat rock on the sand bed to see if he will attach. then you can move the clam and his rock wherever you want.

good luck
