Clams will often try to move if conditions are not correct and that might be what you are seeing. They generally like low-medium flow, strong light, phytoplankton supplementation, trace nitrates, trace phosphates, a solid bottom (or rock) to attach to. Also, if there is a lot of sand or detritus building up in/on the clam, the clam may be trying to blast it off by closing quickly.
Croceas specifically need very strong lighting as Scuba Dog suggested above. IMO they do well with tons of phyto additions especially when their zooxanthellae are first acclimating to the tank conditions.
