Cross-breeding clowns

There's a guy who's asking whether his ocellaris and his clarkii can cross-breed.

In his particular case there's no chance, mostly because he's keeping them in a 8 gallon tank, and I have made that very clear to him (he will most probably ignore this :headwally:), but I bet he will insist on knowing if cross-breeding is possible.

I know it is between percula and ocellaris, I'm not sure it's possible between such different species, though. Can anyone shed any light?

P.S.
Of course I will also bring up the case that in the remote chance that they will, and in the even remoter case that he manages to bring up the fry to saleable size, it's very unlikely that he'd be able to shift them.

There's heaps of hybrids of clownfish of all sorts around, and there's even stuff like this lol: http://ibluewater.com/clownfish-pairs-haute-couture-pairings.html.

Anyways, on topic. Clarkii x Ocellaris is definitely possible and has been done (just do a quick google search).

Thanks for the link, that was interesting. From the prices though I gather that is not exactly the easiest thing to do.

Considering that from this guy's description they are just a clarkii and an ocellaris, I think it's more likely the clarkii is going to rip the ocellaris apart when it grows a bit, and then die when it outgrows the tank.

Not gonna say anything about the possibility of breeding 'em in a 8g tho.

Indeed. If his main display tank is only 8 gallons, where is he going to raise the larvae? That is assuming he has the faintest idea of what he's doing...

Most breeders have a diffrent setup for raising the clowns after hatching. It is almost impossiable to raise them in the dt. But those 2 clowns can and have been bread together before
