is a Ctenochaetus binotatus (Two Spot Bristletooth Tang) pretty similar to a Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus strigosus) in terms of care? I cant find much info on them.

thanks.

Very similar fish, and no differences on care. Like all tangs they need algae in their diets and are very industrious eaters of diatoms and other micro-algae. The ones I've kept (including koles and two-spots) have been fairly easy to get going but long term success with this genus has eluded me. All the bristletooths I've kept over the years have been more fragile than your average tang and I've never kept one longer than 4 years.

thanks! Great to hear some personal experience. It is hard to come by for these fish. I am QT'ing a two-spot bristletooth right now. I'm doing copper and prazipro. Definitely not taking chances because I know these guys are delicate. Any idea why yours died eventually? Did they seem skinny, stressed out, diseased, or anything towards the end? And, any tips of what prepared foods they will accept at first? anything besides the obvious like nori, formula II, etc...

My two spot was the one I had the longest and he got very thin, despite eating constantly so I'm quite sure it was an internal parasite. I tried prazi, and metro laced foods but nothing seemed to help. Hopefully the kole I have now will do better. I had the two spot for about four years but he definately died before his time.

darn. sorry to hear that, but thanks for the info. I will do my best to give this guy a good prazi treatment.
