culling guidelines ?

Wondering what you guys thought about culling guidlines and what to look for?
*pinched head
*flared gills
*underbite

What else do you look for? Anyone have example pics of some?

And what do you usually do with your culls? I hate the idea of flushing them to the 'ocean' (since that's where all drains lead...). I'd rather give them away to someone who understands they shouldn't be bred.

Mine are looking good so far. I see one that might have flared gills, and a couple with underbites, though. I had one that was ... slow ... but finally lost him after I transitioned away from rotifers completely (this past weekend). Unfortunately a couple of those that I will probably need to cull have snowflake patterns, which kind of stinks.

Aside from what you mentioned, other easy ones are kinked spines, other any spine problems for that matter such as a tail that points up, and anything missing -- specifically missing fins.

I am trying to raise Ocellaris. I have a female snowflake paired with a darwin male. My last batch was going great (nearing 1 month old) until a light fell into the water electricuting the fry. Yes, as far as I know, the rotifers are pretty standard operating procedure for raising most marine larvae. The rotifers themselves, IMO/E, are pretty easy to maintain. THere is some cost, however, associated with the whole process in setup and keeping algae source for the rotifers.
