Culture kit from Florida Aqua Farms

Hi there,
I received two phyto-disks and rotifer cysts yesterday, but I don't really have all the equipment I need yet to start the culture. Nor do I have any larvae to feed

So my question is - how long and how can it be stored? Both the phyto and cysts.. Thanks!

So long as they stay sealed up, the disks are good for several weeks easy and the rot cysts for years.

I was kinda hoping for months and not weeks on the phyto-disks. I'm guessing they've been one week in transfer already, so maybe I should get busy here.. I'll have to buy some lights and clean some bottles then

The disks really depend on how well sealed they are. I've had some has backup that have lasted weeks, and others over a month or so. It's been variable enough that I'd only rely on the weeks

It says they can stay alive for 6 months+.. Which is good news But I'm listening to you billsreef and I'm gonna start the culture within a month..

I had my batch of disks last for over 6 months. I kept them in a dark place. They were in my garage for the summer. Not a good place to store them. But, they survived and I now have phyto cultures.
