Cupramine / copper question

Do I need to re-plinish the copper levels per gallon of top off water I add to the tank with cupramine, or does the copper in the tank stay in the tank and not evaporate? In other words, do I need to add 2 drops of cupramine per gallon of top off water I add back to the tank due to evaporation?

I have read plenty of posts / articles about cupramine, but I do not recall this answer.

Thanks!

Copper does not evaporate. The only time you need to add more copper is after a WC or if something is absorbing the copper in your tank (i.e. crushed coral, rock). I have noticed that copper does seem to break down/dissipate after a month or two.

+1 Be sure to constantly monitor copper with a decent copper test kit (I prefer Salifert) exact copper dosing can be critical. Its easy to "top-off" more than the actual evaporation.

Thanks everyone!

I am using a simple 20 gallon long HT with a HOB AquaClear filter bare bottom (with the carbon taken out) with a couple of PVC pieces in it and 1 maxijet 900 for circulation. I have a line drawn to tell me where to keep the RO/DI top off water at and it has seemed to work very well so far with little fluctuation in copper levels.

To address miserkris.... If you are intending to absorb the cupramine, you can use carbon or cuprisorb.
