Well my fish have ick obviously, I have a naso tang in the qt tank right now and just today I saw ick all over her. She have been in there for since tuesday. Anyway cupramine said dose 1ml for 10.5 gal and repeat in 48 hrs to get .5mg/L. Well my QT tank is 10 gal, and I dose 1mL already, do I really have to wait 48 hrs or as long as I can get it to .50mg/L ? I have nothing in the tank that can absorb the copper, just bare bottom and pvc pipe in the tank, and filter with sponge, no carbon or anything. I want to KILL ICH ASAP. Please help

wait 1-2 hrs after that dose you should be around .4-.5 in your case you could do half that dose to get .25 the reason they say wait is in case you have a copper sensative fish, i found out that i need to double the dose to get to .4, and remember test test test i usually underdose just to be safe, what type of test kit u got?

According to Seachem if you're wet-skimming the QT you will remove some of the cupramine, since the copper is bound to an ammine.

FWIW, I've started using the Red Sea test kit, I get bizarre and inconsistent results with the Seachem Multi-test.

Copper does not kill the parasites on the fish. It is only effective against the parasites when they drop off the fish to reproduce and they do that on their own schedule. So, I would not worry about it and follow the directions.

Ok thanks guys. I checked my ph level in the QT tank this morning and for some reason it has drop to 7.8, is it safe for me to add some baking soda to bring back to 8.2 ? Btw I use this copper test kit since I couldn't find a redsea kit. I can also get an instant ocean copper test kit at my LFS. Has anyone got good result with the kit I'm using?
