Copper should not be used. It is ineffective and bad for your fish. Ich is best eliminated via tank transfer. velvet treated with CP. Brook and uronema with formalin baths, and flukes with Prazipro.
Wow, just wow, woah. Im taken back, right now I have all my fish in cupramine, .5 level. Since adding the copper, the white spots have not been seen. Is that just a masking?
If so, what step would you take? I have about another weeks of going fishless in the main tank, I planned on doing TTM to bring fish back into main tank once it has gone fallow for 10 weeks. Until then, I would think its good to keep it at bay.
Totally a bombshell, ive read so many stories of people using copper.

It's been one month since I've seen a sport, the time I have has them in copper.
.before that, it was every few days.
I don't see why i fall under therapeutic dose, being its all glass tank, sumo, PVC pipe, no rock or sand at all. If.anything I a shade over the .5 level.
Being I have another 6 weeks to go, I can start pulling copper out via water changes and carbon, and once out, use chloroquine if you suggest copper would be ineffective.
I will do ttm, 2 fish at a time, once I hit the 10 week fallow mark.
I know that will solve ich if.copper were to just mask it, but for other diseases, I would like to think Brook ornvelevet would show itself in that 10 week period?

You need a minimum of 5 weeks observation in water with no copper.
Beyond confused. Sounds to me like 10 weeks fallow should rid them in the tank (read some people here saying they went longer and still wasn't enough)
Too many variables to make that assertion.
However, were not sure if cupramine will kill it.
It will kill the infective stage if and only if it is at therapeutic levels and long enough (which is hard to predict)
Today marks 4 complete weeks in cupramine, I may go 6 full, pull copper via 50 % water change, and carbon, once all out, observe 4 weeks, and if I see anything, go 30 days chloroquine. Followed by tank transfer method back into the display.
Even then, I just read a post by alprazo who had ich after using chloroquine

If held there 6 weeks , constant, should I still need worry about velvet?
Ok, so would a plan of running copper 2 more weeks, followed by 5 weeks of no medication be a desirable plan?
After 5 weeks, if no signs, I can then start ttm two at a time back into the display. Or should something arise, I can do chloroquine phosphate?
The ttm at the end should take care of any ich that wasn't effected by copper, and the velvet I would think would show itself during the 5 week no med period?
