Cuprisorb for dinoflagellets??

Has anyone tried combating the dinos with low temperatures? Bring a big chiller on-line and gradually take the system temp down to 76F and hold there?

I've been running a bag of cuprisorb replaced monthly or so for some time now. The Dino algae (which was not terribly bad to begin with) is not an issue anymore. I will get a few snotty brown patches once in a while, which is when I replace the cuprisorb, and turkey baste my rockwork. I don't know if it was the cuprisorb, my system maturing, or what that kicked them. All I know is I haven't had anything resembling A dino outbreak since I started using it.

Fwiw cuprisorb can be regenerated you dont have to keep buying it.

How do you replenish it?

It is regenerated with an acid bath. Diluted muriatic acid will work. Rinse, and neutralize with baking soda.
