Curing Ick in a reef tank

Wow! That's great if it'll work. Please post back with the progress. I'm interested to see how it works.

I would like to know your progress as well. I started using Stop Parasite on Monday and must be administered twice a day for 5 days. As of last last all the fishes seems to be doing well and their belly have a big bulge. I've also been feeding heavily with Selcon and Vitachem in frozen food and nori.

So far the medication doesn't seem to bother the shrooms, polyp, tube & cup coral rocks that are in the tank.

I like the idea of feeding medication to the fishes rather than adding that much chemical into the tank that I'm doing now. Please post your results.

I'm less than halfway through the treatment. The fish are ick free currently. I'll keep you updated.

I do think a more full proof plan would be to run this treatment with a UV sterilizer.

Could you give a description of how you mix everything? How often you feed? Exactly which products you are using? How much of each do you mix in?

Has anyone used this with an anemone in the tank?

Thanks so much!

I'm using about a tablespoon of frozen food. 1 cube of marine cuisine and 1 of brine or mysis. I just do a normal feeding, if anything I'll feed a little more, 2-3 times a day.

Use 1 scoop (supplied) of Metronidazole and 1 of Focus. Focus binds the medication to the food. A little Garlic Guard mixed in (probably not necessary)

Ask seachem about the anemone. My corals have been fine, but I do not feed them directly, but its inevitable they get some.

waiting to hear if it worked, i guess you wont know for a while, and from what i have read you can use it with inverts

atlfishes: how's it going with the medication? I finished the last dose of stop parasite on last saturday and everything looking good, all the fishes, inverts, shroom & polyp rocks all alive. No signs of ich and the cloudy eyes on the blue girdled angel and blue hippo have cleared up and they are no longer scraching against the rocks. Signing off unless ich comes back and I'll update. Good luck to you. :)

Still too soon to tell. Seachem says its normal to still see ick. I only see it on the tang. Gone at night and their in the morning. I just hope its not multiplying. Say treatment could last as long as 3-4 weeks. Its not getting worse and gamma shows no signs.
