current vs. coralife

which one is better for the money?
Some have said that coralife runs hotter and it is more expensive.
Also, current comes with lunar lights and is more expensive.
Coralife comes with 50/50 bulbs whereas current comes with an actinic blue and a daylight.
whats your opinions?

I am not real impressed with ANYTHING coralife makes... but that is just my personal opinion. I don't know anything about the Current fixtures.

I have 2 72" Current fixtures with 3x250W MH and 8x39W T5's that are half 420nm and 460nm actinics plus it has 12 white LED's and 12 blue LED's. These are great fixtures the ballasts on the MH are magnetic but they stay warm to the touch even when it has been running all day. I actually got rid of my Hamilton fixture to get these and I would say they are great fixtures and the bulbs for the MH that come with them are very bright since I got some Hamilton 250 DE bulbs for the ones that came in broken as replacement. And you can see a big difference in brightness between the bulbs and they are both 10k bulbs, to bad you can't find 250W DE Current bulbs for sale.

coralife vs current

depends on what your looking for - that is cf or mh or both...
i recently upgraded my 120 reef from 2 48 inch aqua luminator 4 - 65 cf light fixtures to the current 250 mh and t5 lamps and what a difference.
in some ways i liked the effect of the all cf lighting over the mh but the current offers more accessories than the coralife 2x250 mh and cf fixture.
more moon lights - 9 blue and 9 white and the current uses t5 lighting vs the cf lights in the coralife. t-5's over cf's and suspension kit is included - not to mention in my case about $200.00 cheaper.
i found the color of the 250 watt mh 10000k lamps in the current to be far to yellow and plan to go with a 12000 k mh bulb later as i miss the light blue tint i got with the coralight cf fixtures.
lots of extra length wire and the hanging fixture comes with the current as not with the coralife. i did find the ballast a bit noisey as well as the cooling fan in the current fixture - whistled because of so much air being sucked in ( easily fixed with a thin piece of foam insulation over the fan opening ). this is my first experience with mh fixtures as i have oly had the coralife cf's in the past .
to each his own i guess ..............oh yeah - the 2 ballast are extremly large and bulky but can be remotly mounted far enough away as not to be in the way also.

I had both.I never touched the coralife fixture.I replaced both ballast in m current fixture.I spent $85 on the first ballast before I found out about the work horse no 5.I also have an aqua pod 12g that I have just replaced one ballast in it.

I recently switched from Current PCs to Coralife metal halides. Both are great lights IMO. I didn't go with the Current MH because I didn't like their lunar lights (I prefer blue lunars). I also got a better deal on the Coralife from my LFS. My LFS says Current's return policy is the best but he also said he's never had any problems with Coralife.

By the way I have the Coralife Aqualight Pro HQI MH/Compact flourescent with LED moonlights. I love it and my fish do too.
