Thanks Manny. Yeah the eurobracing on the bottom was Felix's call so that the tank wouldn't need a center brace. Also, the bottom glass is 1/2" thick so yeah....this thing is strong.

Furthermore, he made the top eurobracing out of starphire glass as a surprise to me, a nice little touch! At first I was thinking, "whats the point?" but then you see how nice it looks to not see any green tint anywhere on the tank and it's simply amazing!

As for the rest of my equipment, Im pretty much staying with what Ive got.....for now. Im sure Ill be upgrading skimmers fairly soon as I increase the bioload but I think for the short term my current skimmer will do just fine (Oct EX-250).

Return Pump = mag12 (will change to an Eheim if I notice heat issues)
Reactors = Dual BRS Media Reactor
Controller = just ordered the new APEX system as part of a group buy through the Atlanta Reef Club (yup, still a member)
Flow = 2 Vortech MP40's

Eventually, I also want to add a calcium reactor.

Thanks dude. I really appreciate that. know what you mean about the empty tanks....they don't last long here either. I figured out a little trick though that when I have empty tanks I take them around to my family and set them up there....that way they pay for everything but I get to enjoy it after it grows in their tank cuz I get a frag....lol.

as for the ext overflow.....that was about the only decision through this whole process that I was absolutely certain about and I never changed my mind about. Its going to be so nice to not have anything in the tank except 2-4 locline tubes which are hardly noticeable once coraline covers them.

great job- I built mine w/o the bottom reinforcement but we did place a double eurobrace on the top.

I just can't wrap my mind around the rimless tanks( bigger than 50) longterm if you know what i mean.

Yeah I know what you mean......im with you there...they scare me too but man are they nice, especially if you go canopy less!! I though about rimless but my wife only requirement in all of this was that I have a canopy. she doesnt like the hanging light look so I figured since i have a canopy, I might as well do the bracing. prob a good thing.

Haha...never thought of that. Come to think of it, I use that center brace on my 90 all the time! I guess now Ill be using the back euro bracing.

will do guys.....carpenter ran into some electrical issues at the shop so the canopy is going to take a little longer. hopefully in the next couple of days though Ill have some new pics.

Looks great. I still need to come down and see the old tank before you break it down. Let me know what your plans are for the weekend and give me a call. Also, when are we going to do the plumbing for it?

Sorry for the long delay...

Sorry for the long delay...

Hey All,

Sorry for the long delay but I finally picked up my canopy today!! Moving and setting up a new tank at the same time is a little more difficult than I expected...lol

Anyway, here are some shots. I started staining today with Fernando, my carpenter friend. The pictures really make the stain job look horrible (I guess because of the flash and the fact that it was still a bit wet) but it doesn't look like that at all in person. At least I hope it wont....lol.

We are going to put another coat on tomorrow, then some sanding sealer, then 2-3 coats of poly to finish. Thanks to all those who helped me out in my "Staining Wood" thread btw.

Enjoy the shots...
