Jgoal, nice man... I wanna do almost the same setup. I spoke with Felix and Im gonna see his place and some others before diving in. PM me I wanna hook you up w/ some frags when your ready.

nice!!
I just read this whole thread for the first time. Yeah, i had nothing going on for the last 2 hrs. What happened to the full tank shots you mentioned back on 4/19? Hows it looking now. I gotta give Felix a call too. Great looking set up, and awesome furniture.

Thanks guys....lol...did I never post the FTS?

Sorry about that......Im going on vacation in a few hours but when I get back Ill definitely get on that. The tank is looking pretty good. The algae bloom is gone thanks to a good CUC.

I have a few corals in there....some acans and some nice SPS pieces along with some zoas.

The only thing I am struggling with is properly acclimating the corals when I bring them over from my brothers tank (my old tank) since he has T5s. I think the amount of light over this tank is shocking some of the corals....Ive had the hardest time with montis and digis (go figure, the most basic ones).

Ive started them off way at the bottom and I cut the light back to two hours when I first introduce them and then I bring it up an hour each week. So far thats worked well. Still lose some color but the polyp extension is great.

Patience....lol.

Eddie, thanks for the offer man.

hey let me when ur gonna cook that raw meat again lol good stuff!!!!! im gonna start the plugs this weekend . good idea man thanx

Hey Mike...anytime on the steak man....The way I see it the more people I can convince that rare is better than anything above rare, the better chance I have that my steak will always be rare!!

The plugs came out great man! Im telling you, we may start a trend. Ill post pics when I get back.

Jorge, beautiful tank!
I am getting ready to set up a new tank and I want to use dry rock so I can take my time and build "the perfect aquaspace". I am concerned about algae issues with the dry rock. Can you share your experience?
Thank you.

Hey tony....

The first 2 weeks that I had the dry rock with lights over it, it turned an ugly neon green...like that sidewalk algae that you see. I was a bit worried but sure enough, once the cycle was through it turned back into a normal color.

I also seeded mine with LR which if you want "all" the benefits of dry rock you shouldn't do but I only used like three or four pieces and I QTd them and inspected them before I used them as seed rock.

Overall, I am really happy I used the dry rock. I think it really minimizes the chances of bad news hitchhikers and its cheaper.

thanks eddy....as for an update, I know....I suck....

I have just had so little time to even think about taking pictures. That said, I am leaving on a trip on friday and I just bought a new camera and I am getting the memory cards tomorrow.....Ill see if I snap a few pics.

Now if I post them, that's a whole 'nother story...lol.

Thanks guys....lol...did I never post the FTS?

Sorry about that......Im going on vacation in a few hours but when I get back Ill definitely get on that.

Well, after breaking promise after promise to post update pics, I finally got around to taking pictures. To be honest, I would have done this about 4-6 months ago but I had two pretty bad episodes that almost wiped out every coral in the tank.

The first was a hurried water change where apparently the salt didn't mix well enough. Every SPS bleached and lost tissue. Some Amino Acids, a few water changes, and some time later, every single coral came back.

The second was when instead of dosing said amino acids into the tank, I grabbed the wrong bottle and poured a whole lot of Seachem Paraguard in. This time, all softies, LPS and SPS completely shriveled and began deteriorating. Luckily I noticed right away and was able to do about a 60% water change that night. I added a bunch of carbon and did an 85% water change the next day and then another 60% water change the following day.

The coral tissue began coming back within 2 weeks but it took about a full 2 months or so for the color to come back. In the pictures you can still see a lot of the damage the Paraguard caused.

In both cases, I've been really lucky that they came back at all. My wife says I'm creating a super breed of "eternal life" coral....let's hope.

Anyway, here is what you've all been waiting for. Sorry for the lack of photography skills.

Fish

Traded him in b/c he ate my blood shrimp but he was a cool fish. Supposedly in the Hawkfish Family. Sold to me as a Red Lizard Fish.
