well i sold one of my fresh tanks around noon last weekend and pointed out a couple fish to the person that i was proud of. my fox face and my new powder blue(got the new powder blue on a group order and the price was good) like i said that was around noon. well around 6:30 i was looking at the tank and didnt see the powder blue! i freeked a little. so i tryed looking for it and saw it on its side on the sand!!!! then i realy freeked!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dove into the tank to try to get it out so my nitrates wouldnt go any higher(25+) i tryed grabing it and it moved! Its alive! i said to my wife and we tryed to find it again. well after about 30 min moving rock around and taking out coral i found it and brought it down stairs to try to keep it alive(didnt work ) wile i was looking for the powder blue i found my fox face on the closed loop intake too?!?!?! he was healthy for the last 2 months now so i dont know what happened to the tank. i checked every thing and the only thing that was out a wack was the nitrates.
after i got the powder blue down stairs i rearanged the rock(alot of it got moved) granted i found my horse shoe crab(to my suprize its still alive to this day) but since i moved my rock, half hour later i couldnt see into the tank. i mean after i was done putting the rock back the tank became cloudy, realy bad! here is the pic

i thought is was a bacteria outbreak and didnt think nothing of it except that my nitrates would go down.
well hour had passed and the tank was clearing up. that ruled out a bacteria out break since those last about 12 hours or so. i puzzled for a day then checked my peramiters again. cal was at 480, mag was at 1200, and alk was at 3-4! i think it was a cal percipitation! so far i only lost a 1/2 a coral. im saving it in the frag tank with little flow on it so it dont get beat with the tunze blowing high cal water at it.
i got my peramiters back to where they should be now and the rest of the tank is looking better! all other coral are looking great including the flower pot! i even added 4 more coral on sat night!
i dont have pics yet of them in the tank but i can tell you what they are. i have 3 diffrent color rics in the tank(pink, lime green, and orange) and the one we have always wanted to get again (had one years ago)and was worried about is an ELIGANCE coral! its ben in the tank for 3 days now and boy does it get big!!!!!!

Ma Ma said there would be days like this. Are you sure nothing spawned in your tank???

what could have done that? there was a white powder over everything in the tank after it cleared up.

everything is doing better now, even the nitrates are going down a little. maybe because im 2 biger fish down, but its good news
i almost fogot to put up a pic of the eligance its doing realy good, its getting bigger every day it seems like.

ever figure out what caused the precipitation?

thats what scares me I want to start stocking my tank in a couple months...You have a lot of nice corals..I am sure they add up fast..

bri- i think it was a cal percip, alk was low for some reason realy quick but cal was ok at the time. two days later it was all fine(little adjusting went on )

erics3000- i just counted that i have like 32 diff coral in the tank and about 5 or so(fox coral, more candy, and some more zoas) in the frag tank that i have to put in yet. only half the tank is looking full(i started on one side and am working my way over to the sabie's side) i will be getting more at out next club meeting and some more from an order im doing to. i try to frag what i can so i can suport the buying too

that same thing happened to my tank about a month ago.... I dose the two part and I may have added them together too fast. In anycase, I didn't lose anything but had white residue on everything. You may have to pull all your pumps out and give them a little cleaning. My Koralia's stopped working due to residue build up.

i dose kulk (mrs wags through my slow mix reactor) but thats on my ato which if very reliable for me. if that did overdose kulk both cal and alk would have ben high. and also since my reactor is only 1 rpm it doesnt sture up the bottom to put kulk powder in the tank.
my new version is realy big, its now a 5 gal bucket made the same way (almost) as my first one in my forum. i have 1 container of mrs wags in it and it buldoses very well to always mix and saturate

Great work, I've enjoyed the thread.

And you are oh so wrong about listening to Spongebob. My husband and daughter are absolute addicts....hmm....incorporate spongebob into the aquarium...

I doubt a sponge will wear pants for me.
