here is another frag i put in the tank. it sat in qt for a few days and started to change color. this is a brown monti. well it was. in qt it started to have a bright green hue? i was like..."thats cool!"
but now in the display its realy turned green. in this pic its on the sand bed getting use to the halides. i just today moved it to half way up the tank.
do monti's change colors? the person i got the frag from thinks its because of the lack of light on the bottom. is that true? well here it is. little fuzzy pic but u can see the color now.

Absolutely! A browned out coral will color up once its introduced to a tank with good lighting and water quality! I had a browned out monti do the same thing in my tank. I got it from a swap as this putrid shade of yellow-brown. Everyone thought I was crazy for buying it for $5. Within a week of putting in in my tank it turned a neon green and has stayed that way ever since. Looks like you have the same luck!

thats right i just put in my last fish that was on my to get list
in reality i added one of them twice cuz the first one was in the wrong place at the wrong time. that was a foxface and the time and place was the closed loop intake at 10am(when the cl turns on for the day) i couldnt find him all day then i just thought "well you never know and i cant see all the screen so...." shure enough 5 sec after i turned off the closed loop he swam up with 3 lines on him from the screen
i took him out and put him in qt but by morning he wasnt swimming any more. i was mad at my self for not thinkin of that earlyer! well that night(this past sun) i took off the cl screen and looked around my growing pvc pile to see if i hade a 1.5" T . i was happy to see one in the last place i looked (of course). i was in a hurry so i didnt take any pics, sorry. but i added a 90 degree on the left of the T and 2" up and a cap. tons of holes on the T and the added peices on the left of it, plus a few more on the screen i had on there already.
it sucked cuz i had to redo my rock pile on the left but it was worth it for the security (i hope!!!)
well since my wife wanted a foxface (so did i for some hair algee controle) and that one didnt last 48 hours i had to go and get another. no biggie. well the one i got i have ben watching for nearly a month now in the petco thats by my work.(i know its a petco fish, lay off this one) i saw this foxface go through ich at the store and get rid of it for a long time. i told the guy running the fish area to just feed him healthy and it will go. well it did and it made me feel good that i saved another petco fish on with a pic. granted its not the best pic put he doesnt like the camera very much. still skiddish i quess. by the way this guys name is "Lucky"
next is the fish that was on my list and off then cam back on cuz my wife saw one in person (we both have to like what goes in the tank!) at the hospital while she was pregnet. 3 words POWDER BLUE TANG! i know that thes fish can get pushy if you put more fish in after them so like i said he was going to be the last fish and is. he is peutiful and i got a sweet deal on him. i called the fish store to order one for there thursday (V-DAY gift for the wife) delivery and they said they where getting one in today(mon)! they said they would call me to let me know if its not doa. well after work they didnt call so i did. it came and they said "if you get here befor i take it out of the bag you can have it for $50!" i called the wife and said im going to be late comming home and i cant tell you why except for the fact im going to save $25! well i got there (lucky for me i had a foam container in the car) got him and looked at it as much as i could while i drove home. this guy love to get his pics taken! we named this guy "Smurf"

for equipment upgrades i got a 300mg ozone gen and a milwaukee orp controler. i love it. i had a red sea 50(no lcd read out) and hoped it was doing good. well now i can see the orp reading now i also changed out my compact flo. atinics for 3 24" t5 all in ones by current. saving the monthly bill on that one(saving about 90watts!) and still nice color.
my brown monti cap is still GREEN??? even though i got it 4" from the top of the tank. i still dont get it.
one new coral i got as a partial payment for other lights i was selling is some Goochers! its a cool zoa morph that started in my area of the U.S.. the guy that had them is Gooch here on RC( he doesnt have any any more but they are getting to be all over). they are a nice bright pinksh red. i just had to have them cuz Brighter the Better!

What did your ORP end up being once you hooked the controller up? Mine started at a whoppin' 50 - got it to 350 before I had to take the skimmer (and ozone) off for a week to have the pump retooled - couldn't believe it was at 340 when I hooked it back up today.

i had the red sea on it for about 3-4 months then i sold it and was out a way to controle the new ozone gen for about 2 week. when i hooked up the controller it read 200. i am slowly bringing it up to 350-400 mark. in at about 291 during the day and 275 at night(275 is where its set at) i dont want to go to quick and slaughter the tank

Great tank and i love the new additions. Especially the powder blue tang. Has he shown any ich signs yet or is he in great shape.

Ich....I hate it, my tank was ich free until I put a powder brown and blue hippo from saltwaterfish in my main tank. Both became covered in ich in no time...wish I would have QT'ed them. Even today, several months later; I can still see some spots on my blue hippo tang from time to time.
CustomColor your PBT looks like it's in very good shape, you might be one of the lucky ones getting a healthy PBT with no ich

i do know that Smurf will or could be a ich magnet. im hoping he will be happy in the tank with his\her tank mates. a happy fish is a healthy fish. just look how our blue hippo turned around!
for those who dont know about my blue hippo(dorie) here is a pic of her from when i got her in another petco save(she only costed me $5!!!)

she never got ich! i think the reason she never got it was because ahe was well fed and happy to be in a bigger tank for the room to swim.
im hopping the same for Smurf!so far so good! she went from a bag to a 6' tank with food every other day. she is eating and nipping at the rocks looking for more.
plus as a added bonus for the tank i got a skunk cleaner(Jack) and a blood red (Bull) cleaner shrimp today for picking up all the extra stuff and parisites
i have gone trough ich befor with my coral beutie wich i have had for over 4 years now. it went though ich 2 times and i treated it the same, no qt (i think puting a swimming fish in qt is like brinning it back to the fish store) and lots of food, and skunk cleanner. worked both times.
if i wasnt happy with what i saw at just pets i would not have bought it. thats y i dont like to order fish because your stuck with it and trying to make the fish better. i reather see the fish i want to buy then make the choice if i want that one or another one somewhere else.
