That is a really nice stand, if there is any way you can make it work I would try.
I built the stand for Garrick and it is also 40+ inches high simply because it makes the tank more viewable and more enjoyable. Grant it he has to stand on a stool to work on the tank but I dont think he would change it if he had the chance because of how nice it is to view the tank at that height.
When he decided to go with Halides we had to rebuild the canopy much taller but the delema was that even though he had 9 foot ceiling in his basment the tank was located under an
"I-BEAM" so instead of having the hood fold up he desinged it to fold forward....
I am by no means an expert but Tabeaubi can the hood be re desinged to open in the front instead of the top???? (couple of cuts and hinges?)
JeeMann99 if you see this can you post pics of how you designed yours?
I still do not want to use a ladder to get into a 5'5" tank (I'm only 5'3")--stepstool won't work. I use a stepstool to get into my 4 1/2' tanks! Also, I'm in my office sitting in that room. My view at that height is the top edge of the stand. If this height is more common than I thought, then maybe I have a chance of selling it.
