cutting down baffles in sump

So you want to remove them completely?
Are they just siliconed into a glass tank.. If so just take a razor blade and cut the silicone..

If you don't have a dremel, i would actually suggest an oscillating tool instead. Something like this: Milwakee M12 This is just an example, small size might matter to you, but i don't know how much room you have. Cordless vs corded also probably something to consider. Everyone makes these, including Dremel...

Those blades, the straight cutting thin flexible ones are so great i don't know much that is as useful. I would get a thin sheet of card stock or metal and place it against the surface you plan to cut along to protect it, then have at the baffle. Practically flush cuts quick as can be.

Acrylic sumps are expensive - I'd sell it, buy a glass sump at petco's $1/gallon sale, and use the rest to buy more fish!
